Daily Trailer: Confuse Your Sunday with Sleeping Beauty
Right, so you just read the headline and looked at the photo and you’re thinking: “Huh, so it’s a modern retelling of Sleeping Beauty, they’re really pimping these fairy tales.” I can tell you right away that you are absolutely, completely wrong. Like, not even in the same galaxy. Join me in a description of the film’s plot.
So, Emily Browning is a schoolgirl who needs some cash and somehow gets wrapped up in this Sleeping Beauty club/gig/thing. What is that, you ask? Well, a Sleeping Beauty is a girl who’s paid for and then knocked out with drugs so that all manner of folk can have their way with her. Things get complicated as her sleeping-sex-pet life begins to bleed into her normal life and she becomes increasingly interested in finding out what goes on while she’s sleeping.
Yes, that’s one of the most disturbingly creepy things I’ve ever heard.
Sleeping Beauty, written and directed by Julia Leigh, stars Emily Browning, Rachael Blake and Ewen Leslie. It did the rounds at festivals this year and will get a limited release in the US on December 2nd.

Sounds horrible! Got to see it..
Jane Campion, man. Jane Campion. The Piano is harrowing. And fantastic. She does not shy away from the uncomfortable.
There has been a lot of coverage about this movie in the UK film media. It looks like a disturbingly intriguing watch, similar in look to Peter Greenaway’s 8 1/2 Women.

This movie completely leaves you “hanging” -leaves you with more 100% UNANSWERED questions than you could imagine? At the precise moment that this film SHOCKINGLY & ABRUPTLY simply just ENDS (& you watch in “horror” as the credits start rolling), you are literally left wondering EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS THAT YOU HAD JUST WATCHED?
