Daily Trailer: The Fantastic Flying Books… Give Us Goosebumps
The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore – the chances are you first heard of this film on Sunday watching the Oscars (when it got the golden guy in the Animated Shorts category). We are a bit ashamed to admit we share your position. Why? Why hasn’t this film been everywhere since its release (it was shown over a year ago at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival but only got a limited release in the US 10th of February this year)? Well, because it’s a short film. But we’re intrigued.
This trailer is a poem! You half expect to see the same sort of build up in all trailers these days but this one breaks the rules. Indication of plot is nowhere to be found or explanations of why these books can fly or who Mr. Morris Lessmore (love that name! Say it a few times out loud!) is. But it is not needed. A few notes on a piano is enough noise to make you fall into the dream this movie seems to be (and is). Lovely!
You can see the whole thing here below and let us tell you it is well worth your time. There are rich characters to be found and a great story, told in a beautiful and simple way. It might be the best 15 minutes you’ll spend today.
