Justice League Film Back On – And It’s Gangster Squad Style

Apparently, when your competitor makes 1,36 billion dollars off of their biggest gamble to date, it kind of forces your hand. And so DC Comics and Warner Bros. have just made the least surprising move of the month, by restarting their efforts to make their own superhero behemoth, assembling their best and most extravagantly clothed in the Justice League.

You may recall that a few years ago, George Miller was supposed to helm a Justice League film, but that plan fell through, partly due to the predictably huge budget. Now, however, when the possible profit margin has been blown up by The Avengers, DC is starting up again. This time, the writer will be Will Beall. Who the fuck is that, you ask? He is the writer of another ensemble film slated for release this year, namely The Gangster Squadwhich is looking to be a really cool little flick.

What makes a Justice League film a very different prospect than The Avengers is that we haven’t had close to the same syndication of storylines in DC’s films (in fact, none at all) as in the Marvel Avengers franchise, where every film ties directly into another, plus that it will be extremely hard for the producers at Warner Bros. to convince the current DC superhero actors to reprise their roles in this film.

So, Justice League: The Movie will in all probability be a stand-alone entity, where Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash and possibly more (likely with a brand-new cast) will have to do in 2-plus hours what The Avengers had five whole films to warm up for: enchant the world.

What do you think of this film? What superheroes do you want to see? And who do you want playing them? Tell us.
