Daily Trailer: Django Unchained – The D is Silent
Here comes Quentin. After a relatively brief three-year reprieve everyone’s favorite film nerd and genre exploiter is back – this time with Django Unchained. From the trailer, Tarantino’s latest seems to contain many of the characteristics that we have come to expect from the mastermind behind such pulpy hits like Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown, Pulp Fiction and the Kill Bill films. Not only does the film promise another stylish blast of brutal ultraviolence, but other Tarantino-esque tropes are highlighted including: a deep reverence for the historical framework of the film’s genre and a plethora of colorful characters sprouting off the writer/director’s trademark dialogue (colorful yet tinged with menace).
One surprising thing is that the trailer appears to almost marginalize the supposed antagonist of the film; which is DiCaprio’s dandy of a plantation owner. Now, I’m aware that trailers have an incredible propensity to completely rework the entire identity of the film. However, the trailer makes it seem like the story focuses far more on the relationship and journey of Jamie Foxx’s titular hero and the character played by Christoph Waltz (who apparently is becoming a Tarantino regular) than the antagonistic dynamic between DiCaprio and Foxx. Still, only time will tell on what is sure to be one of the year’s biggest (and perhaps best) films. Until then, you can satisfy your craving for the next product from QT’s ever fruitful grindhouse by checking out the trailer below!

I have been waiting for this trailer for months, and I don’t think it’s done justice for how amazing this movie is going to be. I just can’t wait to see the actual feature!
