Still Life: Iron Man 3 Concept Art Heavily Hints At Plot Line

To the layman that might just look a simple case of Tony Stark getting into a bit of a quibble with some heavily armed men, but to those familiar with comics might have a better idea of what Shane Black‘s film might entail. Spoilers ahead.

It would seem that the upcoming threequel will be an adaptation of Extremis, a story arc from The Invincible Iron Man (written by Warren Ellis) in which Tony Stark end up with the Iron Man armor inside his body through the wonders of nano-technology. This gives Stark the ability to change in an out of costume at any time, removing the need to assemble the suit at a fixed point (such as his penthouse in New York). Elements of this story arc were worked into the original Iron Man, namely pretty much anything having to do with Afghanistan.

Oh, and those guys with the guns also look awfully official, perhaps hinting at some sort of enemy of the state angle for the film as well. We’ll find out next year, or when the first trailers hit.
