Still Life: New Anna Karenina Poster
When viewing the first trailer for Joe Wright‘s version of Anna Karenina, I was less than positive, unconvinced that any film could faithfully capture Tolstoy’s novel. For now, however, I’ll put that worry aside, and instead praise the stunning visuals shown on this poster. Wright has made some beautiful films in the past (Hanna, Atonement) so there is no doubt Anna Karenina will be lovely to look at; the trailer confirmed this, and the new poster (below) creates no doubts.
There are some very heavy hints at the story’s ending, and the tagline isn’t the best choice (considering the wealth of stand-out quotes from the novel itself), but otherwise this poster is much more promising than the the trailer, if only because it’s just a still picture and not actual clips from the film.
