Finally we have a teaser for Kathryn Bigelow‘s new film about the U.S. Navy SEALS team that hunted down and killed Osama Bin Laden at his compound in northern Pakistan in May 2011. Bigelow (The Hurt Locker, Point Break) and screenwriter Mark Boal had been working on a film about SEAL Team Six since 2008, hence the quick turnaround in putting together a film about the Al Qaeda leader’s later demise. Filmed in Amman, Jordan, and Punjab, India, Zero Dark Thirty stars Joel Edgerton (Warrior, The Thing), Jessica Chastain (The Help, The Tree of Life), and Chris Pratt (Moneyball).
In 2010, Bigelow’s military thriller The Hurt Locker won six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay (also penned by Boal). Zero Dark Thirty won’t release until December 19, 2012, so no one can accuse Hollywood of trying to influence the November U.S. Presidential election by reminding voters of Barack Obama’s role in ordering Operation Neptune Spear and finally getting Bin Laden.
