Depressing news out of Hollywood today as reports have come in that Tony Scott, director of such films as Top Gun, True Romance and Man on Fire, committed suicide on Sunday. He apparently left a note in his car before leaping from a bridge to his death. This was confirmed by the coroner’s report.
ABC reports that he was recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain cancer. It would appear that he decided to take control of his own fate.
Multiple directors and other people in the industry have flooded Twitter with grief, a clear sign of how influential the British-born director was.
Tony Scott was 68 years old. He’ll be sorely missed and we wish all the best to his family and friends in this difficult time.
