Recently we told you that not one, but two Steve Jobs biopics were on the way, one written by Oscar-winning Aaron Sorkin, and the other headlined by Ashton Kutcher. Kutcher’s casting in A Serious Film may seem like an odd choice, but beside the fact that Kutcher and a young Jobs look remarkably similar, Ashton has actually shown some acting skills in the past. Y’know, when you dig past Two and a Half Men and that mountain of subpar rom-coms he’s done.
We now have a first look at Kutcher in character, as a photo from the set of the simply titled Jobs has been unleashed upon the interwebz. Behold, the charming douche from That ’70s Show as one of the most influential men of the last century:
I see this going one of only two ways. A: Kutcher hams his way through the entire film and relatively unknown director Joshua Michael Stern buckles under the weight of the scrutiny directed towards the film, or B: he takes this opportunity to increase his dramatic capital and runs with it, keeps up with the impressive cast around him (Dermot Mulroney, J.K. Simmons, Matthew Modine, James Woods, Lukas Haas, Ron Eldard and more) and surprises us all. He certainly looks the part, in some strange and unexpected fashion.
Which way do you think it will swing?
