No, this is not a sequel to The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Hotel Transylvania will be this year’s celebration of good old-fashioned typecasting in a quirky rendition of a famous fable. Be warned, though, as it will be headlined by former comedic darling, current quality black hole, Adam Sandler, and a number of his Grown Up friends. The good thing, though, is that we won’t actually see them, as Hotel Transylvania is an animated film.
It takes place in – you guessed it – a hotel in Transylvania, where an unsuspecting traveller encounters a group of bloodsuckers and other supernatural beings. They reveal themselves to be a whole lot less evil and a fair share more bumbling than legend has painted them to be, and not without their family issues, either.
It won’t win any big awards, but I’m at least hoping it will be a family-friendly pastime, and that Sandler will do at least a little bit in making up for the cinematic insult that was Jack & Jill.
