Unsurprisingly, The Dark Knight Rises, a film with gargantuan amounts of hype and excitement behind it (which it delivered on), has reached the billion dollar mark worldwide, making it the 13th film to ever do so.
With $431.2 million in the US and somewhere around $574 million internationally, the film’s current cumulative stands at $1.005 billion dollars, ever so slightly eclipsing The Dark Knight. It’s interesting to note that TDK made more of its money in the US while TDKR is a larger international success.
Two points: 1) Good luck to the guy responsible for the Batman reboot, no pressure. 2) Christopher Nolan is going to get to do absolutely whatever the hell he wants to do and Warner Bros will bend over backwards to appease him. Good job, Chris.
