Still Life: A Lesson in Boring Posters

Tom Cruise‘s upcoming thriller ‘Jack Reacher‘ just got its very own international poster, as did ‘Broken City‘, a thriller starring Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe. Sound good, right? Wrong.

While both films certainly show some promise, the two posters are both solid contenders for ‘Most Boring Poster of the Century’. I could spend another minute writing something about the posters, but then I would have spent more time on them than the people who made them. Scroll on down for the glory.

Based on the best-selling novel ‘One Shot’ by Lee Childs, ‘Jack Reacher‘ centers on a homicide detective who digs deeper into a case involving a military sniper who shot at five random victims. The film stars Tom Cruise, Rosamund Pike, Richard Jenkins, Jai Courtney, Werner Herzog, Alexia Fast and Robert Duvall. ‘Jack Reacher‘ is scheduled to hit theaters on Dec. 21.

Meanwhile, ‘Broken City‘ centers on a cop-turned-private investigator (played by Whalberg) who is hired by the Mayor (Russell Crowe) to find out if his wife is having an affair. After confirming that she is, she soon turns up dead and the P.I. finds himself drawn into a vast political conspiracy. The film stars Whalberg, Crowe, Barry Pepper and Catherine Zeta-Jones. ‘Broken City‘ will hit theaters on January 18th, 2013.
