In an attempt to not be typecast as a dope fiend, Breaking Bad‘s award winning Aaron Paul has taken on the lead role in the upcoming video game adaptation, Need for Speed. Yes, the irony of the title burns with the smoldering intensity of a thousand suns.

At this point plot details are sparse but rest assured that it’ll involve fancy cars going really fast and probably exploding. At the helm will be Scott Waugh, the former stunt man who directed the thoroughly awful Act of Valor. The film is being scripted by John Gatins and George Gatins, the former wrote the surprisingly fun and good crowd pleaser Real Steel.

Lets set hopes that this’ll be maybe half-way decent at moderate. We wouldn’t want the talented Mr. Paul’s Hollywood career to go down in flames on his first go-around now would we?

Need for Speed, based on the long running EA property, comes out February 7th, 2014.
