The modern remake of Brian De Palma‘s Stephen King adaptation, Carrie, has a rather nifty single take teaser. Check it out below and then read on for some thought.

This seems like the sort of thing that would be intriguing if everyone didn’t know every beat that the film will eventually hit. And I say that as someone who hasn’t even seen the original. It just feels so pointless, more so than most remakes even. The teaser hints at some interesting stylistic flourishes but doesn’t exactly allay the other fears.

Hopefully this won’t be anything more than an overlooked bump in the road of Chloë Moretz‘s blossoming career.

Carrie, directed by Kimberly Peirce, comes out on  March 15th, 2013. Along with Moretz the cast consists of Julianne MooreJudy GreerGabriella WildeAlex Russell and Portia Doubleday.
