‘Ghostbusters 3′ Prepares For A 2013 Start
For better or worse, it’s finally happening.
Deadline reports that filming on Ghostbusters III is scheduled to begin next summer, with director Ivan Reitman returning to the series. As previously confirmed, Dan Akroyd and Harold Ramis will also be returning, while Bill Murray, sadly, will not.
“My character, Ray, is now blind in one eye and can’t drive the cadillac,” said Akroyd, “He’s got a bad knee and can’t carry the packs… Egon is too large to get into the harness. We need young blood and that’s the promise. We’re gonna hand it to a new generation.”
Etan Cohen, writer of films such as Tropic Thunder and Men in Black 3 (whoops) was brought on to rework a script by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, a team of writers that has worked on the US The Office. So there’s that.
With filming starting next summer, the film should be hitting theaters in 2014, coinciding with the 30 year anniversary of the original Ghostbusters.
