What was a rumour for a long while has now been confirmed: Warner Bros. and DC’s superhero mega-gathering of the Justice League will come out in 2015, which also just happens to be the same summer Marvel’s The Avengers 2 is scheduled to be unleashed.

After Warner Bros. claimed a sort-of victory in the never-ending battle for the rights to Superman, they are now planning to feature him, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Green Lantern as the lead characters.

Going up against Joss Whedon‘s second outing with The Avengers is no small task, for a number of reasons. 1: Almost all Some of the DC Comics adaptations have sucked been less than stellar. 2: There is no director yet attached, and if they want to release a behemoth like this in 2015, they need to start shooting no later than next summer. 3: There is still no cast attached. Christian Bale has emphatically refused to ever put on the Batman mask and cowl again, Henry Cavill has been mum on whether he would repeat his role as the Man of Steel (perhaps that silence was affected by the legal issues around Superman’s rights), and I somehow doubt Ryan Reynolds has any interest in returning to the Green Lantern, but the nature of the Green Lantern makes recasting a lot easier.

However, a script is already in place, written by Will Beall, who also wrote the highly anticipated Gangster Squad, so that should make the process a little faster.

Additionally, WB is aiming for a Reverse Marvel, where spinoff films are planned to expand the DC Universe after Justice League comes out in 2015.

Who would you like to see in the Justice League film? And do you think it will stand a chance against The Avengers Reloaded?
