Filmophilia.com was founded and launched in late July 2011 on WordPress.com, by a group of young, aspiring film writers. With a focus on writing original articles and in-depth but entertaining commentary on cinema, along with news and reviews, the site’s following has grown steadily since its opening.
In February 2012 Filmophilia was among the first sites admitted into WordPress’ WordAds program, a great honor for such a young site. It is now an admitted media member of UK’s Film Distribution Association.
By July 2012 the number of regular writers had grown to a full dozen, with a daily dose of varied material, ranging from lists, guilty pleasures and forgotten classics to film reviews, breaking news, exclusive interviews and trailer updates.
In July 2012 we moved from our loving nest at WordPress.com to a self-hosted WP.org site, which offer the site a platform to expand its film coverage and commentary even further.
We are now a multi-national site, with active writers and contributors across the United States and Europe, where each one focuses on their core interests to create a wide-reaching site with a strong voice.

Want to join the team?
We are always looking for two types of people:
Those who are willing to write news-related material as well as reviews and articles and be an active member of our team. We aren’t able to pay anyone yet, as even the editors work for free, but sometime in the future, that may change.
People who have the talent and ambition to promote Filmophilia, in exchange for commission, of course. We consider ourselves a promising entertainment site with the potential for massive traffic and considerable residual income for a clever marketing-type individual. We know about films, but would welcome someone with a nose for marketing. That individual could also, but is not required to, write for the site, and would receive commission of the income they would generate for the site.
